The Ethiopia Deaf Experience is a project set up by Ethiopian NGO Dires for Development Charitable Association together with the Dutch social enterprise The Long Trail. Together they have developed the program in 2013, and are supporting the activities and programs until today. In the early stages the activities were funded by international subsidies (The Netherlands government and EU funds), since 2018 the activities rely fully on income from tourism, the core business of The Long Trail. But because of the pandemic we are back relying more on donations and subsidies.

The Ethiopia Deaf Experience is supported by the Dutch charity Johan Wesemann Charity Fund. They manage and administrate donations for the project.
